Orkney and the Wars
Orkney provides an ideal harbor in the North Alantic. During times of exploration and times of conflict, it has been instrumental with history making consequences. From the sinking of the Royal Oak to the Italian prisoners of war constructing the Italian Chapel, there is wartime history to be steeped in. Riding along the Scapa Flow, you will take a ferry over to Hoy and visit the Scapa Flow Visitor Centre at Lyness, Hoy. Visit the Martello Towers and if weather and time permits, a trip to the Neolithic Dwarfie Stene and Rackwick Beach are possible.
